Every movement has an origin story. Ours begins with a question that seemed almost naive in its ambition: What if we could design an economic system that rewards regeneration instead of extraction?
Watch the short video above or enjoy the whole journey here to learn about the journey of SEEDS and how it evolved into ReGen Civics.
The Birth of SEEDS
SEEDS (Sowing Ecological, Economic, and Democratic Systems) emerged from the intersection of several movements: cryptocurrency innovation, regenerative agriculture, local food systems, permaculture philosophy, and participatory governance.
The Experiment
At its peak, SEEDS had thousands of members across dozens of countries. People were earning tokens by planting trees, cleaning rivers, teaching permaculture, and building community and over 400 democratic community formed and governed proposals in a massive learning journey in large scale decentralised governance.
Our Renewed Focus
Rather than abandoning the mission, the SEEDS community evolved. We shifted to the foundations, once SEEDS had built the tools we needed to ground those tools in the "on the ground" communities that needed them most and that's where we come in. The lessons learned became the foundation for ReGen Civics. The relationships built became the network. The vision refined itself through failure.
The Continuation
ReGen Civics is not a replacement for SEEDS. It is part of the wider mission with a more focused commitment to regenerative land projects and food systems. We carry forward the dream of an economy that serves life.
To everyone who was part of SEEDS: your contributions matter. Your vision lives on. The seeds you planted are still growing and we invite you to claim some ReGen Game tokens following the process here.
